Generalized Unitarity Method for Unstable Particles
نویسندگان
چکیده
In theories with unstable particles, unitarity is satisfied by the inclusion of only stable states in sums. Hence cuts are not to be taken through particles. This raises a challenge generalized method, whose aim reconstruct amplitudes analyzing sets cuts. Nevertheless, under some general physical conditions, and perhaps methodological modifications, we prove that method still reliable for one-loop containing resonances. We discuss simple examples which illustrate these features.

Valid Inference in Partially Unstable Generalized Method of Moments Models
This paper considers time series Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) models where a subset of the parameters are time varying. We focus on an empirically relevant case with moderately large instabilities, which are well approximated by a local asymptotic embedding that does not allow the instability to be detected with certainty, even in the limit. We show that for many forms of the instability...

متن کاملAn Effective Lagrangian Approach for Unstable Particles
We propose a novel procedure for handling processes that involve unstable intermediate particles. By using gauge-invariant effective Lagrangians it is possible to perform a gauge-invariant resummation of (arbitrary) self-energy effects. For instance, gauge-invariant tree-level amplitudes can be constructed with the decay widths of the unstable particles properly included in the propagators. In ...
متن کاملUnstable Particles and Gauge Invariance
When computing the properties of reactions involving unstable charged particles care has to be taken to use a gauge invariant amplitude. In this talk we present methods to (automatically) obtain such an amplitude, both at the tree level and in one-loop calculations, using only a minimal number of diagrams. The numerical difference with gauge variant methods commonly used will be discussed for t...
متن کاملGauge invariance and unstable particles.
A gauge-independent approach to resonant transition amplitudes with nonconserved external currents is presented, which is implemented by the pinch technique. The analytic expressions derived with this method are U(1)em invariant, independent of the choice of the gauge-fixing parameter, and satisfy a number of required theoretical properties, including unitarity. Although special attention is pa...
